as the "father of aerobics," Kenneth H. Cooper, M.D.,
M.P.H., published his first bestseller, Aerobics, in 1968 and introduced
a new word and a new concept to America and the world. Millions
of people are exercising today, motivated by his preventive medicine
research,
persuasive public appearances in more than 50 countries, and 19
inspiring books.
Recognized as the leader of the international physical
fitness movement, Dr. Cooper founded the Cooper Aerobics Center
in Dallas in 1970 serving as the headquarters for 10 health companies
and a
nonprofit research and education institute. In 2006, Dr. Cooper
and his son, Dr. Tyler Cooper, expanded their healthy-living mission
to a second location at Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
